The Othrs
VISUAL IDENTITY, GRAPHIC DESIGN & IDENT DESIGN
Working at the intersection of humanity and technology, The Othrs tells character-driven stories to decode zeitgeist moments as they happen.
For the Othrs visual identity, I created a logo and ident package that speaks to the immediacy of street art, yet with a cinematic style. The ident animation uses the stencil form borrowed from graffiti in service of cinema; projecting lights through the openings in the letterforms.

THE LOGO
The monospaced stencil lettering gives the logo a physical and digital feel simultaneously. The visual treatment feels both gritty and resolute; the typographic equivalent of cinema verité.
The design of the final logo comes from the underlying ethos of Karim and Jehane's documentary work. The visual treatment feels a gritty and handmade; the typographic equivalent of cinema verité.
Adapting Gridnick to be used as a stencil, we got at this idea of cinema verite immediacy while still maintaining a visual equivilence to the digital world that the films deal in.

Gridnick was originally designed by Wim Crouwel for Olivetti. Gridnik has an angular geometry and functional rationality while still embodying a human dimension.
